Sourav Chandidas Ganguly (born 8 July 1972) is the former captain of the India cricket team. He is one of India's most successful captains. Born in an elite family of Bengal, Sourav Ganguly was brought to the world of cricket by his brother Snehashish Ganguly. He started his career playing in the school and state level team. He is currently ranked 5th among the highest run-scorers in ODIs and the second player to make 10,000 and the second Indian after Sachin Tendulkar. According to Cricket Magazine Wisden, he is at 6th place among the best one-day batsmen of all time.
