Ramaswamy Venkataraman, (4 December 1 910-27 January 2009) was the 8th President of India. He remained in the post from 1987 to 1992. Prior to becoming the President, he was Vice-President of India for 4 years. He died on 27 January after a long illness. He was 98 years old.
