A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Abul Pakir JanuulaAbduddin Abdul Kalam or APJ Abdul Kalam (15 October 1931 - 27 July 2015) known as Missile Man and President of the People, was the Eleventh elected President of the Republic of India. He was well known as a former President of India, a well-known scientist, and engineer.

He has also been involved in the efforts of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for four decades as a scientist and administrator for four decades and also in the efforts of India's civilian space program and the development of the military missile. They started to be known as Missile Man in India for the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology.

He played a decisive, organizational, technical and political role in India's Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998 for the second time since the first original nuclear test in India in 1974.

Kalam was elected President of India in 2002 with the support of both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Indian National Congress. After serving for a period of five years, he returned to his citizen life of education, writing and public service. He has received several prestigious awards including Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor.

early life:
He was born on 15 October 1931 in a middle-class Muslim family in Dhanushkodi village (Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu). His father Jainulabadin was neither more educated nor had money. His father used to rent a boat to fishermen. Abdul Kalam lived in a joint family. The family member's numbers can be estimated from the fact that it itself had five brothers and five sisters and used to have three families in the house. His father had a great influence on the life of Abdul Kalam. Although he was not well educated, his passion and dedication given to him were very much done by Abdul Kalam. At the age of five years, his initiation was done in the Panchayat Primary School of Rameswaram. His teacher, Iyadurai Solomon, had told him that in order to achieve success and favorable results in life, intense desire, faith, the expectation should be understood by these three powers and establishing dominion over them.

Abdul Kalam also did the work of distributing newspapers to continue his initial education. In 1958, Kalam obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Space Science from Madras Institute of Technology. After graduation, he entered the Indian Defense Research and Development Institute to work on the Hovercraft project. In 1962, he came to the Indian Space Research Organization where he successfully played his role in numerous satellite launch projects. As Project Director, India played an important role in the creation of India's first indigenous satellite launch vehicle SLV3, which in 1982, Rohini satellite was successfully launched into space.

Scientific Life:
In 1962 he joined the Indian Space Research Organization Abdul Kalam got credit for making India's first indigenous satellite (SLV-III) missile as Project Director General. In 1980, he established the Rohini satellite near the Earth's orbit. In this way, India also became a member of the International Space Club. It is also credited for providing licenses to the ISRO launch vehicle program. Kalam designed the indigenous target piercing controlled guided missiles. He created missiles like fire and earth from indigenous technology. Kalam was the Secretary of Science of Defense Minister and secretary of Security Research and Development Department from July 1992 to December 1999.

He used the strategic missile system as firearms. In the same way, at the Pokaran second time, nuclear tests have also been combined with nuclear energy. In this way, India achieved success in acquiring the ability to build nuclear weapons. Kalam gave a specific thought to the development level of India by the year 2020 to be sophisticated in the field of science. He was also the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Government of India. In 1982, he came back as director of the Indian Defense Research and Development Institute and focused his development on "guided missile". Some of them have credited for successful testing of fire missiles and earthquake missiles. In July 1992, he was appointed as a Scientific Advisor in the Indian Ministry of Defense. Under his supervision, India conducted its second successful nuclear test in Pokhran in 1998 and joined the list of nations with nuclear power.

Political life:
Abdul Kalam was elected the eleventh president of India. He had made his candidature from the Bharatiya Janata Party-backed NDA constituents, which supported all the parties besides the Left. On July 18, 2002, Kalam was elected President of India by a ninety percent majority and was sworn in as President of the Parliament on July 25, 2002, in the Ashok Hall of Parliament House. In the field of nuclear weapons, it was thinking of making India a superpower. He also wanted technical development in other areas of science. After leaving the office, Kalam became the Honorary Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Management, Indore and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and a visiting professor. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Chancellor of Thiruvananthapuram, Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Anna University and many other academic and research institutes across India. death:
On the evening of July 27, 2015, Abdul Kalam was giving a lecture on "Living Planets" at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, when he had a strong cardiac arrest and fell unconscious. At around 6:30 in the critical condition, he was taken to the ICU at Bethany Hospital and his death was confirmed after two hours. The hospital's CEO John Silo told that when Kalam was brought to the hospital, his pulse and blood pressure Had left with. About nine hours before his death, he had tweeted that he was going to lecture at Shillong IIM.

Funeral:
Soon after the death, Kalam's body was brought from Guwahati to Shillong with the Indian Air Force helicopter. At about 12:15 the plane landed at Palam airport. Security forces brought the earth body of Kalam with full state honors. Whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and heads of all the three forces received this and offered a coronet on Kalam's body. After this, the body of Kalam wrapped in the tricolor, with full respect, was kept in a gun carriage and taken to 10 Rajaji Marg residence. Here many dignitaries, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav paid tribute to them. The Government of India announced a seven-day state mourning as the honor of the former President on the occasion of his death.


Kalam's body wrapped in Indian flag from Air Force aircraft C-130J on 29th July was taken to Palam Air Base from where it was sent to Madurai, the plane arrived at Madurai Airport till noon. His body is headed by the heads of the three armies and national and state dignitaries, Cabinet Minister Manohar Parrikar, Venkaiah Naidu, Pon Radhakrishnan; And Tamil Nadu and Meghalaya's governors K. On July 30, 2015, the former President was buried with a full respect in the P Karumbu Ground of Rameswaram. Over 3,50,000 people, including Prime Minister Modi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu and Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, took part in the funeral.

Awards and honors:
Kalam's 79th birthday was celebrated by the United Nations as World Student Day. Apart from this, he was given honorary doctorate degrees by almost forty universities, he was honored by Padma Bhushan in 1981 by the Indian Government and Padma Vibhushan in 1990, for his achievements in scientific work during the work in ISRO and DRDO.
