West tripura

West Tripura Indian state is a district of Tripura. The headquarters of the district is Agartala which is also the state capital. While West Tripura is known for one side temples, on the other hand, this place is also famous for the high mountains, palaces and lakes etc. It is also important from historical point of view.

Introduction:
West Tripura is surrounded by north of Bangladesh, east of North Tripura and south of South Tripura. This place has passed through the hands of many prominent kings. Beer Bikram Kishore Manikya was the last king here. After his death his wife Maharaj took over the charge of this place of Kanchanpura Devi. Here are the major rivers Gomti and Hoawar. Its area is 2997 km² and the population is 1,530,531 (2001)

Western Tripura district has four subdivisions.

Agartala:
The major attraction centers in Agartala are Ujjainanta Palace, State Museum, Tribal Museum, Sukanta Academy, MBB. College, Laxminarayan Temple, Uma Maheshwar Temple, Jagannath Temple, Benuban Bihar, Gedu Min Mosque, Malancha Residences, Ravindra Kanan, Purbasha, Handicraft Center, Fourteenth Devi Temple, Church etc.

Ujjainant Palace:
Ujjainta Palace at Agartala is a royal palace. This palace is spread within a square kilometer radius. This palace was constructed by Maharaja Radha Kishor Manik during 1899-1901 AD. The palace houses beautiful tiles, most of the wood work and beautiful handicrafts on the doors. This palace has been prepared in the style of the vast Mughal Gardens. The architecture of Ujjayanta Palace is quite attractive. In addition there are three high dome in the palace.

Manu Bakul Buddha Temple:
This temple is located 125 kilometers from Agartala Airport. It is believed that the statue located in it was brought from Arakan. A week-long fair is organized every year during April. A lot of people join this fair from country and abroad.

Chaturdesh Deity Temple:
Chaturdesh temple is located in Old Agartala. This temple is about eight kilometers away from Agartala. This temple was built by Maharaja Krishna Kishor Manikya in the eighteenth century. Every year in the month of June, the Khachi Puja is done. A large number of people of all religions are involved in this worship.

Kamalasagar:
This huge lake was built by Maharaja Blessed Manikya in the 15th century. This lake is situated on the banks of Kamalsagarh. Devi is a famous temple of Kali near the lake. This temple is about sixteenth century. A large number of tourists come to visit the temple and take pleasure in the lake. In addition, poet Ravindranath Tagore had stayed here for some time in 1926.

Kunjban Palace:
Kunjban, located on a high mountain, is a beautiful scenic spot. This palace was built by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya in 1917 AD. Selection of this beautiful place was done by Maharaja to build Suburbhan Palace building.

Neer mahal:
This beautiful lake palace was built by Maharaja Veerbikram Kishore Manikya in 1930 AD. This palace is situated in the middle of a natural lake known as Rudrasagar. Its area is spread over 5.35 square kilometers. The view of this palace in the evening is very amazing.
