Amartya sen

Amartya Sen (born November 3, 1933) is an economist, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics in 1998. Currently, he is a professor at Harvard University (USA) | Harvard University. He has also been a teacher at Jadavpur University, Delhi School of Economics and Oxford University. Sen. M.I. Tea has also taught as a guest teacher in Stanford, Berkeley, and Cornell universities.

life:
He was born in Calcutta in the Kayastha family of Shanti Niketan, where his maternal grandfather, Kshiti Mohan Sen, was a teacher. His father, Ashutosh Sen, taught chemistry at Dhaka University. After completing his studies from Shantiniketan and Presidency College, Kolkata, he received education from Trinity College, Cambridge. He also spent some years of his life in Buradla (located in Burma) and his early education was in Dhaka. He got the Nobel Prize in economics in 1998 and was inducted in India in 1999 with Bharat Ratna.

Early life and education:
Sen was born in Manikganj (in British India, now in Bangladesh) in a Bengali Kayastha family, Ashutosh Sen and Amita Sen. Rabindranath Tagore named him Amartya (Bengali Amartya ômorto, lit "Amar"). His father, Ashutosh Sen, was a professor of chemistry at Dhaka University, who had settled in West Bengal in 1945 with his family. Sen's mother, Amita Sen, was the daughter of a famous scholar of ancient and medieval India and associate of Rashidranath Tagore, an associate of Kshitij Mohan Sen. He served as Vice Chancellor of Visva-Bharati University for a few years.

Professional career:
Sen started his career as a teacher and research scholar from the Department of Economics, Jadavpur University. Sen., between 1960 and 1961, was a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, where he learned about Paul Samuellen, Robert Solo, Franco Modiglini, and Norbert Wiener. He was also a Visiting Professor at UC-Berkeley and Cornell.

He taught as a professor of economics at the Delhi School of Economics between 1963 and 1971. Sen has also been a collaborator of many prestigious economics scholars, including Manmohan Singh (an experienced economist responsible for making India's former Prime Minister and liberalizing the Indian economy) KN Raj (Advisor to various Prime Ministers and an experienced economist who is the Center for Was the founder of Development Studies) and Jagdish Bhagwati. In 1987 he acquired Thomas W. of Economics at Harvard. Lant University joined as Professor.

Nalanda Project:
Nalanda which was an ancient center of higher education from 5th century to 1197 This was revived and on 19 July 2012, Sen was nominated as the first Chancellor of the proposed Nalanda University (NU). [4] In August 2014, the teaching work started in this university. On February 20, 2015, Amartya Sen withdrew his candidature for the second term.

Personal life and belief:
Amartya Sen was married three times, his first wife, Nabanita Dev Sen, was an Indian writer and scholar. Whom he had two daughters: Antara (a journalist and publisher) and Nandana, a Bollywood actress. Immediately after going to London in 1971, her marriage broke up. In 1978, Sen married Italian economist Eva Colorie, and a daughter, Indrani, had two children, journalist and son Kabir in New York, a hip hop artist. In 1991, Sen married Emma Georgina Rothschild, who works as Jeremy and Jane Knowles professor at Harvard University.
