Ghazipur

Ghazipur is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It was established by Syed Masood Ghazi during the rule of Tughlaq dynasty. According to some historians, the ancient name of this city was Gadhipur, which was converted to Ghazipur in 1330. According to historical documents, the descendants of Ghatiput Pruthviraj Chauhan of Ghazipur were the stronghold of Raja Mandhata. King Mandhata was ruled independently by rejecting the subordination of the Delhi Sultan.

This was reported to the Sultan of the Tughlaq Dynasty of Delhi, after which Syed Masood al-Husseini, the czar of Muhammad bin Tughluq, attacked the stronghold of King Mandhata with a contingent of the army. Raja Mandhata's defeat was defeated in this war. After which the successor of the estate of the deceased King Syed Masood al-Husseini was made. After victory in this war, Syed Masood al-Husseini was awarded the title of Malik-al-Sadat Ghazi by Delhi Sultan. After this, Syed Masood Ghazi made Gausupur his fortress next to Kathauet. But after some time, he established the city of Ghazipur. Which some historians believe is that he has renovated the old name of ancient Gadhipur.

Ghazipur, established in 1820 by the British, is famous for the largest opium factory in the world. Here are also handlooms and perfume industries. Lord Cornwallis, Governor General of British India died here and he is buried here. The city is located very close to the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border. The local language here is Bhojpuri and Hindi. This holy city is situated in the 70's east of Banaras.

History:
Ghazipur was covered with dense forests during the Vedic period and at that time there were ashrams of many saints. This place is also related to Ramayana. It is said that Jagdish Parshuram's father Jamdagni used to live here. The famous Gautam Maharishi and Chyavan received education right here. Lord Buddha gave his first discourse in Sarnath, which is not far away from here. Many stupas are evidence of that period. Ghazipur was an important area during the Sultanate period till the Mughal period. The scriptwriter "Rahi Masum Raza" of the famous television serial "Mahabharat" was born here in the village "Gangoli". And here also Shahid Veer Abdul Hameed was born.

Geography:
Ghazipur, in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, is situated on the banks of river Ganga. Banaras in the west, Mau in the north, Ballia in the east and Jaunpur in the northwest are near it. Due to being on the Ganges coast, the soil here is very fertile. Agriculture is the main business here. Wheat, paddy and sugarcane are the main crops here.

Ganga Ghat:
The "Ganges River" which is considered to be the holy river flows through Ghazipur. There are several Ganga Ghats like Varanasi Ghats in the city, including major Dedarighat, Collector Ghat, Steamer Ghat, Chittnath Ghat, Postaghat, Rameshwar Ghat, Pakka Ghat, Kankaria Ghat, Mahadev Ghat, Sikanderpur Ghat, Cremation Ghat (most east direction) . So it is also called "Lahiri Kashi".

Kamakhya Dham:
It is a Hindu goddess, a temple of Kamakhya, 40 kilometers away from the city, under the Ghummar police station. This temple is situated in the village of Gadhipur. A police booth has been set up there for protection and protection of pilgrims. It is well connected by road. Ramnavmi's time is very crowded here.

Mahaar Dham:
It is the largest pilgrimage site in the city of Kasimabad, 30 kilometers from the city. It is believed that on the day of Mahashivaratri, Kashi Vishwanath rises here and takes a bath in the nearby Kund. Near Chauri and Karahiya and Hathori is situated near the railway line and Khameya Dham Mata Temple and there is the Mother Durga Temple.

It is also believed that Lord Rama's father, Dasharath, had struck Shravan Kumar at this place.

Nehru Stadium:
This is the only stadium in the city of Ghazipur, named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. This is a small and official stadium. There is also a gym in it. The stadium is usually used for various district level sports competitions.

Ramlila Maidan:
Ramlila Maidan is also known as the Lanka ground. It is a field situated in the middle of the city, where Ramlila is. It is surrounded by walled and well organized with two main gates. Public meetings and exhibitions are also in this field. There is also a lake on its side.

Dhamapur:
It is a small village 37 km from the city of Ghazipur, which is also the birthplace of Paramveer Chakra winner Abdul Hamid Veer. This district is located on the leading road, adjacent to the Muradah area. Veer Abdul Hamid, during the Indo-Pak war, there was a soldier in the Indian Army who had destroyed many tanks of Pakistan and gave supreme sacrifice to protect the country.
